Website optimization by Creative Idea web studio

Statistics show that the first result in a Google search receives about 20-35% of all clicks and traffic. By default, the top 10 results share more than 90% of the clicks. This applies to most search engines such as Yahoo!, Bing, Yandex, and others. In order for your site to be seen correctly and at the top of Google, the ‘optimization’ process is used.

SEO /Search Engine Optimization/ is the art of matching your site according to the search engine algorithm to bring you to the top for various keywords. You take care of your business, we will take care of your site

The word “optimization” often scares site owners and is very widely used by a number of marketing and IT professionals. Indeed, the term “optimized website” is very broad, and often the question “how to appear first in Google search” is answered with many technical terms that further confuse the owner of a site. Your site and its content depend solely on what you want it to have. What we can help you with is physical optimization and a proper SEO strategy. Considering the thousands of sites on a given topic, Google and other search engines are increasingly ranking sites that are lightweight, load quickly, and don’t overload the browser/mobile phone with unnecessary content. That’s why a lot of the sites are visually similar lately. A good and fast site should be:

Loading fast and with no issues

excessive delay in the rendering of site content is irritating and has a negative effect on the time spent on the site. On average, users wait about 3 to 10 seconds for content to load, and if that doesn't happen, they leave the site

With no missing elements

when you come across a page that has been deleted or the content you are trying to load is missing, it is a 404 error for the server. The browser you're using doesn't know there's an error and tries to load the content for a while, causing a delay

With locally hosted modules

using Google Analytics, fonts, YouTube videos and other external elements on your site can make your server easier. However, you are dependent on the loading time of the element from the external server, and you cannot cache it further

With correctly cropped images

adding products or information to a site is usually a smooth process. It takes time and usually annoys the person doing it. When you apply photos to your site, they should be sized accordingly to render them. Adding photos with a size of 5-6 MB is not suitable because it increases the loading time

With SEO-optimized content

keywords are far from just meta tags. The texts on your site must have relevance to what the end user will be looking for. Each page should have at least 500 words of text, with no long sentences. The text should be structured and with subheadings separating its individual parts.

Protected with an SSL certificate

The SSL certificate is the difference between http and https in the site address. This is a module that is installed on the server for the respective domain and encrypts the connection between the end client's browser and the server. Thus, any information (e.g. filling out a contact form) cannot be intercepted by hackers.

Pointed to the correct auditory

the content of your site should be informative as well as useful. Increasingly, sites that are 'specialized' in a certain niche get the first places in search. If you have an auto parts site, water heater repair information on it will be irrelevant and less likely to help you get ahead

How to optimize a website in order for it to be lighter?

There are numerous tools that favor the speed of a site. First of all, it is the size of the files that are uploaded to it. The service we offer includes physical optimization of up to 50 photos. Typically, such optimization saves 30-50% of the size of the images without drastically reducing their quality.
Using smaller images
Do you want the photos on your site to be in high resolution? A photo can be 5-6MB, even more. When it is integrated on a given page, it is ‘rendered’ by the browser, which means that it is uploaded to its buffer memory or in other words – the download. You understand that having 10 or so similar photos on a given page or even the entire site means that it will be 60MB, which is completely unnecessary in quantity. In such cases, we suggest that the visible photo be optimized and a text download link be added to the original HD photo. Thus, the photo will not be considered part of the site and it will not become unnecessarily heavy.
Script merging
Another idea is the integration of several scripts into one. Very often, when using CMS systems, various plugins are added. What the average user doesn’t see is that almost every plugin/script has its own files that are loaded into the browser and help it work. When a page is loaded, these files must be loaded one by one, which means several dozen redundant requests to the server for the corresponding files. We merge files into several larger files, reducing server requests. For reference, a site with around 120-130 queries per page can be optimized down to around 30-50, depending on the scripts it uses.

Is it necessary to use CDN?

A CDN or Content Delivery Network is a virtual network of servers located in different parts of the world that distribute traffic to your site. If your site is hosted on a server in Germany, and the visitors are from France, you may not feel much difference in speed, but if you are visited by users from Japan, the USA, Mexico, Canada, Australia, etc., your site will load much slower to them. In such cases, it is advisable to have a CDN, which will likely have a data center close to the user and would allow your site to load faster.
CDN sites also have the option to add an “under siege” module, which is useful if your site has a problem with too many visits from bots and search engines generating artificial traffic to it.

It should be noted that in some cases CDN services interfere with server-side caching, as they also have their own limitations.

How important is the server for the speed of my website?

Hosting companies offer different plans based on limits and speed. Apart from the powerful server on which your site is positioned, the availability of resources such as RAM, CPU and SSD space are extremely important for the processes that take place on it. Most quality hosting companies also offer the additional option of caching your site, which makes it even faster and easier to work with. We can add specific instructions to the server on exactly how to cache your site so it can be optimally fast.

What is needed to make my website faster?

In order to review your site and help optimize its speed, we will need:

  • access to the server/website via FTP
  • administrative access to the application
  • access to cPanel
